THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently seeking a Data Operations Developer for a 12-month term to join our Data Analytics team. Reporting to the Supervisor, Data Services, this role will combine DevOps practices with a knowledge of data engineering to build, automate, and maintain robust, scalable data infrastructure. This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient data flow, high data quality, and seamless integration between analytics, operations, and business teams.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
Data-ops 

  • Deployment management: Manage and perform production deployments, change documentation, and communication to stakeholders of production changes
  • Environment management (development, UAT, production)
  • Deployment Automation: Design, implement, and manage CICD processes with Data Services team members
  • Repository management: Oversee repository management, branching strategies, and platform
  • Technical handover management: Coordination and integration of process and code handovers from other teams
  • Documentation of team development and promotion processes
  • Monitor and Troubleshoot: Implement monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting for data systems to ensure reliability and performance

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Cloud Operations 

  • Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform
  • Automate provisioning and scaling of Databricks environments and related cloud resources
  • Maintain infrastructure definitions in version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Collaborate with platform and security teams to enforce access controls and compliance standards 

Collaboration & Stakeholder Support

  • Partner with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver tailored platform solutions
  • Provide support for data-related technical issues and infrastructure requirements 

Technology & Continuous Improvement 

  • Monitor and optimize platform workflows for performance and cost efficiency
  • Recommend and implement improvements to platform reliability, efficiency, and scalability
  • Document platform processes, data flows, and system architectures for transparency and knowledge sharing 

 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO ARC:   

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience; advanced degrees or professional certifications in data engineering or DevOps are considered an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering and DevOps, with a strong understanding of modern data infrastructure practices
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with demonstrated experience in scripting and automation
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps for infrastructure management and workflow automation
  • Practical knowledge of Databricks and its application in scalable data processing and analytics
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data systems
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively across technical and business teams
  • A proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvement in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
