THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are currently seeking a Financial Reporting Summer Student to join our Financial Accounting team. Reporting to the Supervisor, Internal Financial Reporting, the successful candidate will have strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills along with a passion for learning. The work term will commence in May 2025 and will last approximately 4 months.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial accounting journal entries
- Monthly account balance reconciliations
- Peer benchmarking of external reporting-related disclosure
- Assistance with user acceptance testing of financial reporting system changes
- Support with Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA) reporting
- Preparation of Statistics Canada surveys
- Support other projects and initiatives as required
- Both written and oral communication skills will be applicable as the candidate will co-ordinate with many individuals within the department
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO ARC:
- The position is ideally suited for students entering the second or third year of a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a preference for those specializing in Accounting and are returning to their studies in the following term
- Experience in accounting is considered an asset, but not required
- Ability to perform tasks both independently and within a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow through and resolve issues with good communication skills
- Intermediate MS Office/365 skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Experience in SAP or other financial systems is considered an asset, but not required
