THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Geoscience Technologist to join our Alberta Geoscience team in Calgary. This role supports Geoscientists in managing and analyzing subsurface data to drive efficient, high-impact exploration and development decisions. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for improving workflows particularly through the use of new technology, automation, and other digital tools that enhance data-driven decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Compile, QC, and manage geological, geophysical, and well data specific to the Montney formation, including well logs, seismic, core data, and production information
- Generate and maintain geological maps, cross-sections, and stratigraphic correlations using software such as Petrel and GeoSCOUT
- Support horizontal well planning and execution, including landing zone mapping, type log development, and preparation of drilling prognosis documentation
- Collaborate with geoscientists and engineers to develop and maintain 3D static models for resource characterization and development planning
- Assist in regulatory submissions (e.g., to AER) and prepare technical deliverables for internal and external stakeholders
- Source and manage subsurface data from industry databases, vendors, and internal repositories (e.g., Petrinex, OneStop)
- Champion the adoption of automation-based solutions to improve data quality, workflow efficiency, and project turnaround time
- Support digital initiatives by applying and evaluating tools and techniques such as machine learning, natural language processing, and workflow scripting (e.g., Python, SQL)
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO ARC:
- A degree or diploma in Geological Technology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in geoscience roles within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin; Montney experience preferred
- Proficiency with geoscience software such as Petrel, GeoSCOUT, WellView, SeisWare, and RokDoc as well as other visualization tools such as Spotfire, and Power BI
- Strong understanding of geological mapping, well log interpretation, and horizontal drilling in unconventional plays
- Familiarity with AER regulatory frameworks and data submission processes
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with high attention to detail
- Experience integrating and visualizing data from multiple sources as well as exposure to scripting and data automation tools such as Python and SQL is considered an asset
