THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are currently seeking a Manager, Safety - Operations for our Safety team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership to a team of highly experienced and qualified safety professionals. This full-time, permanent position is based in Calgary and reports to the Senior Manager, Safety.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership to a team of highly experienced and qualified safety professionals including full time staff and field-based consultants  
  • Support the accurate and consistent implementation of ARC’s Health and Safety programs and systems within the Operations portfolio for the organization
  • Review and support Safety Advisors including investigations, lessons learned, safety moments, audits, and verifications to ensure quality and alignment with ARC’s Integrated Management System (AIMS)
  • Provide incident investigation leadership for all recordable injuries, process safety events (Tier 1), and PH3+
  • Provide subject matter expertise during formal and informal risk assessments
  • Work closely with the Safety Advisors and operations leadership team to drive alignment and seek opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Partner with operational leaders to ensure operational procedures, competency assessments, etc., are aligned with AIMS and address organizational risks
  • Conduct trending and analysis to inform Operations team specific risk mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with planning teams to provide consistent safety support and inputs to project planning and execution activities
  • Closely support operations business leaders with contractor safety management efforts

 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO ARC:

  • A minimum of 15 years Health and Safety experience with a minimum of 5 years of formal leadership experience in the oil and gas sector
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related fields
  • CRSP professional certification is required, in-progress applicants will be considered if they meet all other criteria
  • Extensive experience with incident management including TapRooT and SCAT root cause analysis
  • Extensive experience with internal auditing systems
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Highly proficient verbal and written communication skill set
  • Excellent knowledge base of various provincial OH&S legislation and regulations, especially Alberta and British Columbia and industry best practices
