THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently seeking a Marketing Accountant to work in our Marketing department. The primary responsibility of this position will be for the production and associated revenue accounting activities for the organization. This dynamic, full-time position is based in Calgary and reports to the Supervisor, Marketing Accounting. ARC manages the physical flow of commodities through its Marketing team and currently manages production of approximately 138,000 bbl/d of liquids and 1.3 Bcf/d of natural gas production within Western Canada.  
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaise with Marketing, Production Accounting, Financial Reporting and other departments to ensure the NGL pool and other transactions are accurately accounted for on a timely basis 
  • Prepare and book revenue accruals monthly 
  • Handle purchaser statements, create revenue upload vouchers, provide coding for incoming revenue, and follow up on price/volume discrepancies 
  • Recommend accounting treatment for any marketing arrangements with a unique financial impact, and follow up on late payments 
  • Communicate and collaborate with customers to address queries and price confirmations 
  • Prepare month-end close procedures including clearing of accounts receivable 
  • Participate in various business and system projects as required 
  • Coordinate exposure of reporting to treasury for credit monitoring 
  • Monitor deal compliance regarding trading guidelines 
  • Maintain desk procedures and identify continuous improvement opportunities for assigned marketing streams 
  • Ensure full compliance with internal controls and corporate policies and assist with audit queries as needed 

 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO ARC:   

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in mid and back-office marketing operations and reconciliations related to NGL’s 
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field  
  • Sound understanding of marketing accounting including settlement day activities 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and dead-line driven environment 
  • Strong knowledge of all MS Office tools, particularly Excel 
  • Experience with SAP S/4Hanna, EKA, Qbyte/Optix would be considered an asset 
  • Motivated self-starter who performs well independently and within a team environment; ability to adapt effectively to changing priorities 
  • Organized, detailed, analytical and able to consistently deliver accurate results and timely information while meeting rigid deadlines 
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills combined with excellent verbal and written communication
