THE OPPORTUNITY:  
We are currently seeking a Senior Completions Engineer to join our Completions Operations team. As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will be responsible for technical design input and execution of completions operations. This full-time, permanent position is based in Calgary and reports to the Supervisor, Completions. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
Well/Completion design

  • Review, design, and execute completions of horizontal multi–staged hydraulic fracturing operations via plug & perf, ball drop or CT annular design for the Montney formation 

Daily responsibilities

  • Remain proactive to stay current with industry related fracture stimulation methods, and technical advancement as they pertain to the asset base 
  • Design technical completions, and fracturing programs, CWOP’s and lookbacks 
  • Ensure regulatory requirements with respect to reporting and applications are met 
  • Coordinate operations with OSS’s (Onsite Supervisors) on a daily basis 
  • Travel to the field will be required and is expected to build relations with ARC onsite representatives and have an ARC field presence 
  • Track capital expenditures, non-productive time/cost and collaborate with the asset team to effectively evaluate production response and identify opportunities to increase value 
  • Review and approve invoices 

Structure innovation

  • Ability to identify new technology or processes that will have an impact on safety, reserves recovery and/or operational performance. 
  • Clearly identify the objective for each phase from concept to trial and final implementation 
  • Set out clear expectations on how to quantify success and what is required to move to each phase 
  • Create risk registry to capture impacts to the life cycle of the well and identify all affected disciplines 

Continuous improvement

  • Focus on continuous improvement through standardization and documentation of processes 
  • Track key performance indicators as they relate to ARC’s goals and industry metrics 
  • Post project, pad or trial summaries with effective communication to all groups

Collaborate with all affected disciplines

  • Development team to understand area development and objectives 
  • Construction, Drilling, and Production Operations to ensure that the well design meets the life cycle goals of the wellbore 
  • Completions Technical team to determine the technical suitability of proposed fracture stimulations and optimize these designs over time 
  • Completions Superintendent team to promote strong safety leadership and culture for completions operations 

 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO ARC

  • The successful candidate is a professional engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, plus a minimum of 3 years of experience working with unconventional completions in Canada 
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, project management, risk, and time management 
  • Lead by example and represent ARC’s culture of safe and efficient operations 
  • Subsurface operations experience including: 
    • Horizontal well completions in various plays from under to over pressured reservoirs 
    • Well stimulations (fracturing and acidizing) and fracturing optimization 
    • Multi-stage fracturing via plug and per, ball drop and coiled tubing and concurrent pad operations 
  • Exceptional teamwork skills, with the ability to effectively interact and contribute to a multi-disciplinary team and across various areas of the business 
  • Clear level of communication with team and other departments such as Field Operations, through programs, e-mails, verbal communication, and teams 
  • Proven ability to write and implement programs for subsurface operations 
  • Ability to implement and document management of change during operations 
  • Ability to manage multiple operations concurrently 
  • Excellent knowledge of regulatory guidelines in respect to AER and BCER for Completions 
  • Experience in snubbing, CT or stick pipe milling, workover and abandonments as well as disposal wells (acid gas and water) is considered an asset 
  • Field experience in completions and workovers, and exposure to drilling and production engineering is considered an asset 
  • Knowledge in data analytics to identify trends, track success and propose solutions is considered an asset
