THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently seeking a Civil Construction Superintendent to start in a 12-month contract to provide civil earthworks related operational support to capital activities and base operations across ARC’s northern Alberta (NAB) asset base. This contract role has the potential to become a permanent, full-time position.

 

This position is based in Grande Prairie with weekly field travel in NAB as a requirement. This position reports to the Senior Superintendent, Construction. The successful candidate will have a broad operational and technical skillset with a proven track record of building relationships across multi-disciplinary asset teams. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote and maintain ARC’s safety management systems as they relate to the civil construction team 
  • Lead by example and promote understanding and adherence to all industry safety regulations and ARC specific policies, and procedures in all phases of planning and execution of civil construction operations 
  • Be accountable for consistent implementation of operational processes, procedures, and best practices 
  • Assist in providing scopes of work, cost estimates and execution plans to achieve project objectives in a safe and cost-effective manner 
  • Ensure collaboration with industry stakeholders including government agencies, Indigenous groups, and landowners, etc.
  • Attend area-based asset team meetings and work with the ARC Production, Drilling, Facilities, and Completions teams to be point of contact for day-to-day construction support for operations and pad handovers 
  • Promote and foster a collaborative environment amongst the On-site Supervisor (OSS') team 
  • Oversee, develop, and manage a team of On-site Supervisors within ARC’s NAB asset areas responsible for: 
    • New lease and access road construction projects 
    • New produced and freshwater reservoir construction 
    • Pad preparation and cleanups for Drilling, Completions, Facilities, and Production teams 
    • Managment and ensurance on accuracy of new road, lease, water reservoir surveys in conjunction with ARC’s Surface Land and Stakeholder Relations teams  
    • Road maintenance related to capital activities across NAB asset areas 
  • Collaborate with Senior Superintendent for: 
    • Rig layout, pad preparation, and set up planning 
    • Arrangement of capital activities 
    • Concurrent operations with other capital operation teams 
    • Mentorship and development of OSS team, ensuring competency and adherence to ARC policies and procedures 
    • Quarterly lookback reviews 
  • Communicate with service providers on technology, innovation, technical issues, and continuous improvement 
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure all routine cost control reports are accurate, complete, and timely  
  • Act as a member of the Emergency Response Group, supporting the Construction team and other disciplines as required in the event of an emergency response situation 

 
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO ARC:   
The candidate we are seeking is an experienced Construction Superintendent with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience. In addition, the successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a lead operational role is an asset 
  • Continuous learner with a strong work ethic, who accepts feedback and is willing to ask for help

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team

  • Detailed understanding of AER regulations, standards, and practices
